Features & Care

  • Material

At Winter Time you can find a wide range of garments in natural, artificial and synthetic materials. You can find detailed information on the composition of each item, both on wintertime.com and in store.

  • Care

You can find handling care on each item on our web, and on the labels on our clothes.

Here are some additional general advice for each type of fabric used:

Cotton

Items made from this fibre provide natural comfort and a pleasant feel, making it a worldwidefavourite for garments that come into direct contact with the skin. It can be washed by conventional methods, permittable by the colour and finishing, according to the symbols and instructions on the label.

Nylon

One of the stronger fiber that are easy to wash, lightweight and resistant to shrinkage and wrinkling.Nylon fabrics are usually long-lasting, but the more they are washed and dried, the more likely they are to pill and become worn out. Use a mesh laundry bag for these items to protect them from getting snagged or torn during the washing cycle. It would be best to choose a gentle cycle.

Modal

Modal is a kind of bio-based fiber created from the cellulose of beech tree. It breathes better and it is softer than cotton. It keeps the user comfortable all day without having those “sticky” feel caused by sweat. It is also comfortable to wear as the smooth surface in between prevents detergent residue building up after every wash.Modal fabric needs to be cleaned gently to avoid damage and help the fabric stay flexible and colourfast. Some modal fabric items are delicate and they should be hand washed in cool water with a mild detergent, wrapped in a towel to squeeze out the water, and then dried flat in the shade. More robust items can be washed on a gentle cycle with cool water and then either tumble-dried low on a short cycle or lay out to dry. If small stains have appeared on modal fabric, it may be possible to get them out with hand scrubbing and a gentle detergent. The fabric should not be soaked or vigorously rubbed to remove stains. Modal should not be washed or dried in high heat or subjected to bleach and other harsh cleaners. Modal garments should not be left on hangers as the prolonged hanging can cause the garments to distort and may also break some of the fibres, weakening the garment and causing it to lose some of its elasticity.

Wool

Wool as a natural fibre has the ability to absorb moisture vapor that serve as a good explanation of how it can provide superior comfort in cold weather  In cold weather, even a little moisture on the skin will turn cold, wool help by absorbing this body moisture and leave a dry layer of air next to the skin which helps to keep our body warm.If pilling develops, the bobbles can be easily removed. Bear in mind that it shrinks by felting and should be washed by hand, at low temperatures, or dry cleaned, always following the washing instructions on our label.

Cashmere

Cashmere is characterized as luxuriously soft. It is noted as providing a natural light-weight insulation without bulk. Cashmere is extremely warm as itsfibers are highly adaptable and are easily constructed into fine or thick yarns, and light to heavy-weight fabrics. Appropriate for all climates, high moisture content allows insulation properties to change with the relative humidity in the air.Check your care label carefully and never attempt to wash a cashmere item that is dry clean only.

Polyester

This “wonder fiber”has excellent durability, tenacity and high elongation properties. The fiber also has high appearance retention, dimensional stability, elastic recovery and excellent resiliency. Most polyester fabrics may be machine-washed. Remove them from the washer while they’re still slightly damp to prevent wrinkles and avoid a static buildup. If ironing is required, use low heat with a cloth layer: Polyester will melt beneath a hot iron.

Down and padded jackets

Garments with both natural fibres and synthetic fibres can be washed by machine. We recommend turning the item inside out and closing zips and hook and look straps. Drying is very important, to avoid the feathers clumping. You can use a tumble dryer with no / low heat or dry clean according to label instructions.

Leather and suede

If the cleaning is superficial, we recommend using a damp cloth. If you need to do a deep clean, we recommend using a specialist in these materials.

Avoid colours fading

Due to the dying processes used, some of our garments can fade more than others.

Garments with decorative detailing

We recommend removing any detachable detailing from the garment before washing it, whenever possible.

Footwear and bags

As basic advice for good maintenance of your footwear and bags, we recommend that you clean them before storing in a ventilated space and if possible, with something that helps them maintain their shape. If the item is leather, do not submerge it in water to clean, and if it has stubborn stains, use a specialist.
Please note that as our tropical weather is not storage friendly , it is recommended to maintain your footwear and bag periodically.
